Flip your card over and look at the signature box. You should see either the entire 16-digit credit card number or just the last four digits followed by a special 3-digit code. This 3-digit code is your Card Security Code.

Look for the 4-digit code printed on the front of your card just above and to the right of your main credit card number. This 4-digit code is your Card Security Code.

What is the credit card security code?

The security code is a new authentication scheme established by credit card companies that is used for verification and validation in environments where a card is not present (such as ordering goods and services on the Internet), in an effort to increase the likelihood that the Cardmember is holding the actual Card and to further efforts towards reducing fraud.

On Discover, Mastercard and Visa cards, the security code is a 3 digit number printed on the back of the card in reverse italic at the top of the signature panel (the last 3 digits after the credit card number). On American Express cards, the security code is a 4 digit number just above the embossed credit card number on the front of the card.
